LINCOLN'S GOT TALENT is offish!


The prizes are:
1st Place: iPad 2
2nd Place: A flat screen TV (20-32")

The audience will have the chance to win something too! How? You ask...
Because Lincoln Love does not stop beyond our House, we will be collecting canned good donations from our generous community to share with those less fortunate. Bring a canned good in exchange for a raffle ticket. Raffle prizes will include movie bundles and other goodies... and you don't even have to perform for that!

There will be the LGT Art Expo at event. If you have amazing images you have produced and would like to leave your mark in Lincoln forever (for eva, eva, for eva eva - in the voice of Outkast), contact Marushka (baoh.1@osu.edu) by Monday, Feb. 25 at 5pm to learn more about what you need to do. You will bring your final product (ready to be hung up or displayed) to the event to be showcased as well.

Welcome back!! What's new in Lincoln??

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013 LINCOLNIANS AND WELCOME BACK HOME!!

As we embark on this new year, we want to let you all know that, as usual, our dedicated Lincoln staff (OAs, RAs, RM and HD) are here for you if you need anything.

Here are a couple of important information regarding building activities and programs:

  • First things first, great job on check in at the desk. 99.9% has been checked in as of yesterday! Don't forget to come get your box from the desk.
  • The front desk is now sponsoring a couple of initiatives. For instance, they vote Floor Of the Week and reward them. To learn more about what you can do to help your floor win every week, stop by the desk and ask your lovely OAs (You can see who they are by clicking here).
  • You will be receiving an email from Housing Services soon regarding renewing your Housing Contract Renewal for 2013/2014. As soon as you get that email, do what you need to do to reserve your space for next year. You will have until February 20 to do so. For off-campus Housing, talk to the Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement, talk to your friends or Google.
  • Lincoln has a few lovely traditions but the two super amazing ones are the Talent Showcase and Lincoln Luau. Traditionally, both of these events have attracted hundred for the amazing things you can do/get from attending. This year won't be any different... except the Talent Showcase is now called LINCOLN's GOT TALENT!!! More information will be coming up soon on both programs but if you intend on showcasing your talent, start practicing now. You will be amazed at what the prizes are...
  • The American Red Cross is bring back yet another BLOOD DRIVE to our lovely community. We have been doing fantastic with donations and last semester, we increased our donations from last year, so thank you caring Lincolnians! Please stop by the Group Study Lounge next Wednesday, January 16, 2013 between 2-8 PM. Register at www.redcrossblood.org (code: buckeyes) by Monday, January 14 at 11:59PM or sign up at the front desk by Wednesday at 2PM. Walk in appointments are fine but you might have to wait longer. To thank you, you will get a chance to enter a lottery to win free groceries for a year at Kroger!!!
  • Remember that RA evaluation you filled in November? Your RAs heard you about what you want for your community in terms of programming. This semester, they are bring to you several amazing programs including Pizza with a Twist, Chinese New Year celebration, Liquid Nitrogen and Ice cream, Ice skating, study parties, Exercise group, Battle of the Sexes, LGBTQ Panel, more cultural nights, off campus programs, athletic activities and programs with your professors. This first week, they will also organize Kickoff/Welcome Back events... please go! They do this for you.
  • Lincoln Hall Council, in addition of planning the biggest Lincoln program of the year, Lincoln Luau, will continue to put together a few great social activities for you. Most importantly, please join the council every Sundays at 7PM during General Assembly. We will be bring amazing speakers and guests to provide you with information on leadership, interculturalism, career advice and other opportunities offered by the university that will enrich your college experience. Food will be provided as several of those meetings but come to be an active Lincoln citizen... LHC recruitment is scheduled for this semeester as well for those returning to Lincoln next year!
  • Steve Kellert is coming to the Drake Union  on Thursday, January 17 from 5-9 PM to discuss the Oletangy River Corridor Design and biophillic design. The dam removal started last semester on the river and he is here to discuss the rest of the river project and conduct a charette, which a session during which participants (like yourself) will come up with ideas for future redevelopment of the river area. Steve Kellert is a Professor Emeritus of Social Ecology and Senior Research Scholar at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Study. If you plan on attending, please send an email ASAP to baoh.1@osu.edu. Do so by Tuesday, January 15 at 11:59PM.
  • MLK Day of Service is coming up in less than two weeks. Please look into serving others on this very important holiday. Here's a link to visit for more information: http://ohiounion.osu.edu/get_involved/csls/mlkday

Congratulations on making it through the first half of this year (specially congratulations to the first year students here at OSU) and rock this second part of the year out!
