LINCOLN HOUSE SERVICES
Front desk: This is a central location in our building, located on the 15th floor, where you will be assisted by lovely Office Assistants (OAs) with anything from key issues, building questions, emergency requests, to kitchen and cleaning supplies, games and movies. You can become an OA yourself by filling out this document and submitting it to the Resident Manager (RM). The RM is the main desk manager and supervises all OAs.
Housekeeping: Housekeeping staff helps us maintains a clean and safe environment for us to live, study and have fun. They clean suites twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays or Tuesdays and Fridays). They also clean the common areas every day. Please make sure you show appreciation and respect to the staff by cleaning after yourself and holding your floor mates accountable for overall cleanliness. This is not a maid service.
Hall Council: Lincoln Hall Council (LHC) is our community's student hall government. This is a great leadership experience for all students, especially 1st and 2nd year, and it allows you to gain various skills such as creativity, planning and executing events, conducting meetings, managing money and directing projects. This is usually a great thing to consider, especially if you're planning on being an RA, RM, in Student Senate or other professional position and/or positions of leadership.
Residential support: the Resident Advisors (RAs) and Hall Director (HD) are here to provide you with information that you will need to navigate this overwhelming OSU experience, they will assist you with building questions and issues, help you solve conflict, provide you with solutions on how you can develop strong study skills, coping skills and support systems and foster a strong, healthy, inclusive and learning community. RAs (1 per floor) are undergraduate students and paraprofessionals (part time) while the HD is a full-time professional specializing in working with college students.
The University Housing department also offer students the opportunity of getting involved with the Big 6 housing student organizations: the Black Student Association (BSA), the Residence Hall Advisory Council (RHAC), the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), Off The Lake (OTL), Allies for Diversity, and Multicultural Understanding through Non-traditional Discovery Opportunities (MUNDO). Marushka manages Lincoln House. She supervises the RAs, RM and works closely with the Housekeeping, Maintenance and the Honors House staff to make sure you live and study in a safe, healthy, inclusive and academically focused environment. Marushka has a B.A. in Economics from Reed College and a M.Ed in Higher Education from Grand Valley State University. She enjoys biking, traveling, eating, music, and hiking.
We also have wonderful office assistants (OAs) working at the desk under the RM's supervision and a great Housekeeping staff for our facilities issues and the overall maintenance of the building.
Our goal as a Residence Life team is to support the LL residents by creating opportunities to build community, advocating for resident needs and issues, challenging residents to be fun yet responsible members of their communities, support them in time of need, and refer them to the abundant resources the university has to offer to promote their success at OSU.
